Intuition

Why would you want to have a personal website?  Is this a family ego trip?  What are your intentions you may ask?  We wanted to find our relatives and share family information with them.   Has this worked?  Yes, this has helped find and share family information with lost and unknown relatives. Through this information sharing exchange we have contacted many relatives and we saved a lot of time and expense. There is a lot of expense and time involved in  genealogical research. The cost in finding relatives is expensive, if the information is not shared.

Carol and I had very little information on our families background while growing up.  The immediate family was known because we visited them often.  But, what about the rest we thought?  Bits of information were given as members of the family recalled ancestral information.  Many times these bits of information was only heresy and unconfirmed.  I was told that one of our family lines went back to the Mayflower era.  My mother had this information verified, but lost it along life's highways in relocation processes.  Carol's family also had relatives tracing back to Dolly Madison wife of President James Madison.  Dolly Madison was the daughter of John Payne who was also famous. 

So!  Carol and I decided to find out about our relatives and where they came from, where they went, and where they are today!  We began with only a little information. To start with, we purchased Family Tree Maker software.  We searched thru the files provided with the software and gleaned as much information as we were able, and then went to several websites to search files.  I posted inquiries on many sites for information.  We had a few responses with a little information here and there.  Many of the names that we knew from the information we had, were changed.  When we would find information of the different spellings, this would open many doors to more information.  We found that there are road blocks everywhere.  As more information is available on the web, more information became available to us.  We spend many hours entering the information and compiling our files.  We incorporated family pictures as they became available.  Older relatives would have lucid days and give us information, but these days became fewer and farther apart as age took a toll on the bodies and minds of these loved ones. 

Mainly we created this web site for the family in all related branches. We wanted to show our children their heritage.  The majority of the relatives served their families, this country, and it's people, usefully.   Many lived a quiet simple life with their families.  While others served in higher callings, such as law enforcement, teachers, soldiers, judicial etc.  Many were farmers feeding their own families and the surrounding communities.  One of the family farmers wanted to help feed the world.  He did his part every year until he died.  Farming a large section of land, he produced outstanding crops year after year, always having the goal in mind of feeding the world.  Even the King is fed from the ground.
