About The Teacher
Hello! My name is Mrs. Lori McAvin. I have the pleasure of being a
First Grade teacher at Sequoyah Elementary. This is my third year of
teaching at Sequoyah and my fourth year of teaching in Chippewa Valley
Schools. I have previously taught Kindergarten at Sequoyah and First grade at
Shawnee Elementary. Prior to receiving a full time position, I was a
substitute teacher for Chippewa Valley Schools for a year. I completed my
student teaching in a Kindergarten classroom at Fox Elementary. I was also a
Kindergarten summer school teacher.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oakland University in April of 2004 with a
Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a double major of Language
Arts and Social Studies. I also received the honor of being inducted into
the Golden Key Honor Society. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Early
Childhood Education at Oakland University.

I live in Clinton Township with my wonderful husband, John, and our son
Jonathan.

On Saturday, May 2, 2009, Oakland University honored its April and June graduates during commencement exercises in the Baldwin Pavilion, on the Meadow Brook Music Festival grounds.  Lori McAvin Received Her Master of Education Degree in Early Childhood Education.
